Currently, St.Marx is up against a mega event hall by Eventim. There should be a focus on small and regional reciprocity instead of the hypercapitalist „make it mega“ approach. Let’s claim a city for and of commons – a city for all! https://stmarx.wien/
The city is spending millions of Euros on projects that endanger our livelyhood and now wants small initiatives e.g. like the Amerlinghaus „in times of budgetary constraints“ to work not badly paid but better for free. The Amerlinghaus does important work and hosts many initatives like 4lthangrund and the city asks them „to also establish a stable economic foundation.“ Hahaha. Welcome to the neoliberal city.

Similarly affected by the current budget cuts is Radio Orange. The self-organized city radio, where several groups of the culture center also run radio shows is suffering severe budget cuts of 60% and will be further cut by 2027. Independent Radios and initiatives that foster media literacy are more needed than ever to strengthen the multiplicity of voices and togetherness in solidarity.

Add the loss of additional „geringfügiges Einkommen“ while unemployed, cuts in the social sector, and many more capitalist, patriarchal, and racist bullshit society has to offer – happy new crisis.
