Transmedia Festivals out now via Böhlau Verlag/ print+open access

I am very pleased that my long-term ethnographic research project, Transmedia Festivals: Audiosocial Communities between Artistic Experimentation and Economisation, has now been published by Böhlau Verlag. It took more than a decade to realise the project, from the initial idea to publication.

Blurb:
This book illustrates and conceptualises a new festival format – transmedia festivals. These have become increasingly established in major European cities since the 2000s and present works by an artistic avant-garde that have emerged from both art music and experiments in pop and club culture, at the intersection of art, music and technology. This volume highlights the fascination of these hybrid art forms and impressively analyses the multifaceted challenges and efforts of their protagonists in an increasingly economised cultural sector. The result is a multifaceted portrait of art and cultural work and its interweaving with the transformation processes of the present.

Sometimes it takes a few attempts before the download link opens, and it takes a while before it is completely ready for download.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the books creation, all the festival workers and everyone connected to the ecosystem of these festivals.
This book is for all those who are involved in numerous ways and who feel connected to these festivals and their art forms.
